Membership
Flexi memberships are hour-based. You buy a block of hours -- 40, 50 or 75 -- and use them at your own pace. All Flexi packages are valid for 60 days from activation. Hours don't carry over once the 60 days are up, so plan accordingly. See our Hybrid / Flexi page for pricing.
Yes -- you don't have to wait until the start of the month. Your first invoice will be pro-rated to reflect the date you started.
Yes. A R500 cash deposit is required upfront and refunded in full when you leave. There is a R100 penalty for loss of or non-return of your access disc.
No -- memberships are personal and non-transferable. Each member needs their own membership. If you're a team, have a look at our Teams & Projects page for options that work for groups.
Yes. If you're having a meeting and someone joins you in a meeting room, there's no charge for your guest -- the meeting room is yours to use as needed. If a guest wants to work from the space for the day alongside you, a day rate of R495 applies. Get in touch if you're unsure which applies to your situation.
Flexi memberships are hour-based -- you use the space as much or as little as you need within your 60-day window. A Dedicated Desk gives you your own permanent desk in the space, available to you any time, with no hour-counting. If you're using the space three or more days a week, a Dedicated Desk usually works out more economical. See all membership options.
Access & Hours
CTO is open to members 24/7 -- including weekends and public holidays. Once you've joined and have your access disc, you can come and go as you need. Support staff work Monday to Friday during business hours only. Members manage themselves outside of those hours.
No. Day Pass access is during reception hours only, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. 24/7 access is a members-only benefit.
You'll be issued a physical access disc when you join. This gives you entry to the building and the office at any time. Keep it safe -- there's a R100 penalty for loss or non-return of the disc.
Internet & Tech
500Mbps fibre, available via WiFi and Ethernet. LAN cables are supplied -- you just need your own adapter if your laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port. Wired connections are recommended for consistently fast speeds, particularly for large file transfers or video production work.
CTO has a silent inverter backup system that keeps the internet and lights running during loadshedding. Switchover is seamless -- you won't notice it happen. We can run for up to 8 hours continuously on backup power.
Yes -- we have an A3 printer available for members.
Facilities
Yes -- meeting room access is included in all memberships at no extra charge. We have two rooms, each seating 6-8 people with a smart TV and glass board. Book online in 30-minute increments. If you've booked and no longer need the slot, please cancel so someone else can use it.
Yes -- the podcast studio is included in all memberships. Book it online via the studio booking link. It's worth checking with the team first if you're new to the equipment so we can walk you through the setup.
Yes -- we have phone booths available for members. No booking required, just use them as needed.
Yes -- showers are available for members who cycle in or go for a surf before work. Available to all members, no booking required.
Yes -- bottomless filter coffee and teas are included in all memberships. There's also an honesty bar for cold drinks and snacks, with payment by cash, Zapper or Yoco.
Parking & Location
We're on the 3rd floor of 62 Roeland Street, Gardens, Cape Town -- in the East City district, at the corner of Roeland and Buitenkant. Well positioned for the M3, N1 and N2. See our East City page for more on the neighbourhood.
Free street parking is available on upper Harrington and Canterbury Street. Harrington Square offers 150 paid bays at R5/hour with a R30 daily maximum -- about a 6-minute walk from the office. There is also paid parking on Roeland Street and surrounding streets.
Events & Community
We run four recurring events: Lunch Club, AI Show & Tell, Vinyl & Wine, and The CTO Hang. Dates are announced via the member WhatsApp group and on our Events page. Members are also welcome to host their own events at no additional cost.
When you join CTO, Lizelle will add you to the WhatsApp community. It's the main channel for office notices, event announcements and general goings-on. If you're already a member and not in the group, email info@capetownoffice.com.
A CTO ritual since the early days. Every Thursday, without fail, there's banana bread in the kitchen. If you're here on a Thursday, you'll know about it.
Day Pass
R495 incl. VAT per person gives you full access to the space for one day -- Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Walk-ins are welcome. For best value, arrive by 9 or 9:30am. The 8 hours are non-split and used in a single visit. See the Day Pass page for full details.
Yes -- if you take out any membership after your day with us, the full R495 is credited against your first month. No conditions.
Your ID or Passport for verification on arrival. Allow 15-20 minutes when you arrive for a quick tour, orientation and setup. Payment by card on the day or EFT in advance.
